If there is any characteristic coming from the aluminum construction, it's that it makes the note very very articulate, I had thought that there would be more sustain but I don't observe that (if these things are even really noticeable). I'm really curious as to the internal construction of the real Davolis, if anyone has any info please share! I'm pretty sure I read somewhere a long time ago they are essentially Fender XII style pickups under a cover, dunno how correct that is though. I've built two Wandre aluminum necked guitars similar and working on some more trying to get as close as possible, I can't afford the real Davolis though because they are insanely priced at $400 per pickup, so I'm currently making dies for reproduction style covers (they will have different graphical designs on the top) and plan on making my own pickups. Harvester makes some pretty faithful re-interpretations of them.
